5 Ways to Make the Most of Aging Grapes
2025 Jun 19th
Have those grapes in your fridge become a little pathetic and sad-looking? Not so fast! Slightly shriveled fruits can still glam up in your kitchen with a little ingenuity. Here are some fun and resourceful ways to perk them up:
- Roast Them
Make sure old grapes come out as juicy, caramelized gems. Toss with a little olive oil and a sprinkle of salt, and roast at 400°F for about 20 minutes. Add to salads, eat with rich, creamy cheeses, or just dip straight from the baking sheet. - Freeze Them
In effect, grapes are transformed into a refreshing snack once frozen. Spread them out on a baking sheet to freeze individually, following which they may be stored in an airtight container or zip pouch, ready for use. They work wonderfully as ice cubes in wine, cocktails, or sparkling water—a guilt-free dessert! - Dehydrate Them
For a perfect homemade raisin, go on and wash those grapes nicely, take off their stems, and put them on a lined baking sheet. Dry them in your oven's lowest setting (usually about 170°F) for 4–6 hours. Great for baking, granola cereals, or snacks. - Juice Them
With a little effort, you can have your own grape juice. Take your grapes, blend them, and strain them through a fine mesh sieve, sweetening to taste if you like. Pour the juice into molds for popsicles or drink chilled as a refreshing sweet treat. - In Recipes
Be creative with sweet grapes! They can be added to delicious recipes like granitas, cobblers, or even flatbreads. Go for goat cheese and arugula on pizza served along with grapes. They add a delightful sweet-tart flavor to any recipe.
