Office Gifting Etiquette
2015 Sep 18th
Celebrating milestones at the office is a great way to build relationships, show appreciation, and enhance community culture among colleagues. We've compiled the top 4 office occasions and tips for how to best acknowledge them.
1. Retirement: Marking a retirement of a co-worker can be an office or team event. Throwing a small party at the office, or a nice dinner off-site is a great option, and presenting a group gift is common. If the colleague is still at the office in a transition period a 'sharable' gift is a great option.
2. Promotion: Getting a promotion is a very exciting milestone. Depending on the level of the role, simply sending flowers or a nice card will do the trick, but you can take it one step further by sending a big basket of treats that can be shared amongst the office to help your co-worker celebrate.
3. New Baby: Whether it’s a new mom or new dad, mark the occasion and share in their happiness with a great baby gift that can be delivered directly to your co-workers home.
4. Just Because: Sometimes it’s nice say 'thank you' or 'job well done'. Acknowledging every-day milestones is a great way to build your network, and nurture relationships with co-workers and business colleagues. Sending a tray of cookies, or an assortment of edible treats is always appropriate, and the recipient will always remember the gesture.
