Holiday Gifts at the Office

2015 Nov 30th

The holidays are a time to celebrate with friends and family, indulge in delicious food and drinks, and show thoughtfulness and gratitude to those around you.

Marking the holidays at your office can be done in a number of ways, and it usually relies on the culture of your workplace. Here are a few tips for giving gifts at the office this season.

TIP 1: Talk to your co-workers and see who is planning to give gifts this year. Some people might choose to only give a gift to a boss, or just to their peers, so ask around.

TIP 2: Keep gifts professional and tactful. Gag gifts may be appropriate for a close co-worker, but it should be given outside of the office if that's the case.

TIP 3: Gourmet gift baskets are a great option as they are shareable with other co-workers, and can be delivered directly. A great option for co-workers in a different office location than yours.

TIP 4: If you get a gift, don't feel you must reciprocate, but do send a hand-written thank you note to express your gratitude.

TIP 5: You should plan to give your gifts a couple weeks before the holidays. This will account for people going on holidays early, and also gives them a chance to bring gifts home over time, rather than on the last day of work.
